DEE ANN SCHAEFER KERR

Dee Ann Schaefer Kerr of Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away on November 15, 2024. She was born on December 23, 1942, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Andrew and Ruth (Boyce) Schaefer. Dee grew up in agricultural communities in Colorado and Oklahoma, a connection she cherished and maintained throughout her life.

She attended Arizona State University, where she met and fell in love with Robert (Bob) Kerr. They were married on September 9, 1970.

Dee is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Andy; daughter, Kayla; granddaughter, Julianne; sister, Janice (Gary) Scheimer of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and the exchange students she hosted over the years: Vania (Bolivia), Sergey (Russia), Seymon (Russia) and Orsi (Hungary).

After retiring from Whiteman Air Force Base, the Kerrs stayed actively engaged in their community. Dee was a passionate advocate for accessibility and a strong supporter of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). She was known for educating others on what true accessibility means. Dee and Bob served on the Universal Design Kansas City committee, where she was intentional about raising awareness and promoting the importance of creating accessible spaces for everyone.

Dee also served as a senator with the Silver Haired Legislature and as a board member for several organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Fuller Housing, Old Drum Dog Park, and WILS. She was a long-term Rotarian and an unwavering champion for her community.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Millstones Barn 380 MO-30 Business, Warrensburg, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts may be made to the Old Drum Animal Shelter. The best way to honor Dee's memory is to find someone who needs a friend - and be that friend.
