City of Kiowa purchases electric poles for replacement project

At a special end-of-October meeting, Kiowa's City Council took action on their ongoing electrical pole replacement along 7th St.

The council approved purchase of 33 electrical polls from Liberty Electric Line Builders of Grove, Okla for $103,057. City Administrator Sam Demel said the council selected this bid over the six total they received. This purchase will be paid out of the electric fund.

The council also authorized Demel to purchase up to 1700 gallons of gasoline from Coggins.

There was damage to the bulk wellhouse when the back end of a trailer hit it. Demel said they are gathering more information and getting prices to fix parts of it.

The meeting took about one hour. Mayor Bill Watson was absent and Councilman Brian Hill joined the meeting by phone. Other members were present including: Janet Robison, B.J.Duvall, Jason Thayer and Tom Wells. City Clerk Cady Tucker also sat at the council table.
