Ranger men's golf finishes MSSU Fall Invitational

MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State men's golf had their second invitational of the fall season. The Rangers went to Shangri-La Country Club for the invitational hosted by Missouri Southern State. Northwestern shot their second-lowest career round in program history in Round 3 with a 286 (the lowest was a 285 in 2009).

Overall the Rangers finished 15th in the tournament after finishing with an 888 in the three rounds (300-302-286). Oklahoma Christian finished first in the invitational overall.

Matti Zerwin led the Rangers with a total of 221 after improving in each round with a final of 75-74-72 in each round. He finished with 30 pars and 10 birdies throughout the invitational. Zerwin individually finished tied for 52nd.

Cade Seymour was second for the Rangers, placing tied for 62nd overall. He had a best-round finish of 70 (-2). Seymour's final total was 222. He had 34 pars and nine birdies.

In 73rd place overall and third for the Rangers, Pierce Geminden finished with a score of 224. His best round was a 71 (-1) in Round 3. Geminden finished with 27 pars and a team-high 13 birdies.

Davan Smith finished 78th overall in the invitational with a total score of 225. His best round was the third with a 69 (-3). The 69 is the second lowest individual score round in program history (the lowest was a 68). Smith finished with 34 pars and six birdies.

Max Courange was fifth for Northwestern, placing 86th overall in the tournament with his best rounds being the first and third totaling 74 in each and finishing with a total of 228. Courange had a team-high of 36 pars alongside five birdies.

Nick Canales was the leading finisher in the tournament with a final total of 198.

The Rangers will travel to Weatherford for their next invitational, which will be hosted by Southwestern Oklahoma State at the Prairie West Golf Club Oct. 2-3.
