Alva Ladybugs finish season, losing two of three at Silo

SILO, Okla. – After winning the regional playoff in Alva last week, the Ladybugs fast pitch softball team drew Silo in the super regionals. Traveling to Silo, the Ladybugs won the noon game 2-1 but lost the second game 6-0 on Wednesday. The teams went on to play Thursday to determine the super regionals winner. Silo won 3-0 to advance in playoffs.

Alva Ladybugs defeat Silo Lady Rebels 2-1

Both teams were strong in the circle on Wednesday, but Alva defeated Silo 2-1. Jaycee Kelln started the game for the Ladybugs and recorded 21 outs.

The Ladybugs didn’t take the lead until later in the game. Alva got on the board in the third inning after Kelln grounded out, scoring one run. The score was tied at one in the top of the fifth inning when Kaylen Woods doubled, scoring one run to give the Ladybugs the 2-1 lead.

As the starting pitcher, Kelln allowed five hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking two.

Woods went three for four at the plate to lead Alva in hits. Dylen Marteney collected two hits for the Ladybugs in three at bats. Woods stole three bases, and over all the Ladybgs stole four bases in the game.

Big Fifth Inning Leads Silo past Alva 6-0

The Silo Lady Rebels defeated Alva 6-0 in the second super regionals game Wednesday, thanks in part to five runs in the fifth inning.

Silo opened the scoring in the fourth on a Kostina Tubby single that scored one run. The Lady Rebels went on to score five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Jaycee Kelln started the game on the mound for Alva. The Ladybugs gave up six hits and six runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking none.

Kaylen Woods led Alva with two hits in three at bats.

Ladybugs Lose to Silo in Pitchers’ Duel

Both teams knew this was it Thursday noon as Alva and Silo faced off for the third time. The winner would advance in the playoffs while the losing team would be done for the season.

The teams proved to be equally matched in the circle, but the Silo Lady Rebels were a little stronger at the plate, winning 3-0.

Jaycee Kelln led things off in the circle for Alva recording 18 outs. The Ladybugs surrendered three hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking five.

Kostina Tubby earned the win for Silo giving up one hit and zero runs over seven innings. She struck out seven and walked two.

Kaylen Woods led the Ladybugs with one hit in two at bats.

The Silo Lady Rebels will continue in playoffs while the Ladybugs complete their fast pitch season.
