One driver flown to hospital after Harper County collision

One driver was hospitalized while the other was treated and released following a two-vehicle collision in Harper County on Thursday. The collision occurred at 5:26 p.m. on US-183 at County Road EW-22, approximately nine miles south of Buffalo.

Thomas Zebulin Fires, 35, of Ada, was driving a 1998 Dodge pickup southbound on US-183. Richard Vonceil Duck Jr., 61, of Jefferson, Texas, was driving northbound on US-183 in a 2022 Ford pickup pulling a 2016 Load FB trailer. For an unknown reason, Fires went left of center and struck the Duck pickup. Fires’ pickup traveled 413 feet south and 28 feet east, coming to rest on the east edge of the roadway. Duck’s vehicle traveled 240 feet north and four feet east, coming to rest in the northbound lane of the roadway.

Fires was transported by Air Evac from the scene to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted for head injuries and listed in stable condition. Duck was transported by Buffalo EMS to Harper County Community Hospital in Buffalo where he was treated and released.
