Northwest Technology Center welcomes campers to Gaming and Coding Camp

This camp took place July 10-14 with a morning and an afternoon session. The goal of this camp is to give students the skills to improve their hobby, which could lead to college scholarships or future career possibilities.

The students worked through various gaming platforms where they competed against each other and learned new esports games. The students also coded their own games, 3D printed and designed objects on the Glowforge. The games that the students were able to experience included Minecraft, Roblox, Blizzard, Epic, Scratch Code and Sound Trap.

The instructor of the camp is Mary Tyree, a science teacher at Alva High School who has coordinated this camp for the past two summers. According to Tyree, she likes to take part in this camp because she notices that the students like to stay busy and bring a lot of friendly energy to the competitions.

Students attending camp were: Amber Powell, Blaze Bivin, Alexis Smith, Tzuri Rios, Jack Barker, Elim Meeker, Raiden Dooley, Abigail Powell, Brooke Yandle, Torin Walter, Kyler Fowler, Tatum Ricke, Trendon Ricke, Cason Criswell, Aiden Davis and Parker Grimsley.
