The community is invited to attend “An Evening With Jesus Christ: A Musical Tribute to our Savior.”
The free event will be at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building, 1467 Thunderbird Road (next to the Alva Rec Center).
Musical numbers in the hour-long program will be performed by a number of people familiar to the community: Dr. Karsten Longhurst, choral director at Northwestern Oklahoma State University; Dr. Michael Black, band director at NWOSU; Emily Smith, a vocal education major at NWOSU and the reigning Miss Northwestern; Jerrilyn Wilkins, a dual major in vocal and piano performance and one of the leads in the most recent NWOSU musical, “Zombie Prom;” Isi Ofui, the music director at Burlington School; and other NWOSU students.
All the music will be Christ centered and Christ focused, said Black, who is organizing the event.
“Come kick off Easter week by feeling the spirit of Christ through music,” he said.
