The bathrooms have to go!

Burlington School News

During the second nine weeks, Burlington Schools began to renovate the restrooms for the junior high and high school students. With homecoming and Christmas festivities, it has definitely added to the craziness at school.

The school was built in 1963, so it is believed that the existing facilities are around 60 years old. According to the high school principal, Gerrett Spears, "This is something that needs to be done. Oklahoma was awarded federal relief dollars to support students through fall 2024."

Burlington chose to use the money to upgrade the restrooms to be more sanitary. During the renovation, students have had to utilize other restrooms in other buildings. The restrooms will receive new flooring, urinals, toilets and touchless faucets.

With Christmas break coming up, there won't be students to work around. The project will hopefully be done when the students come back in January. The overall cost is around $60,000, including the materials and labor.

The next project will be the elementary restrooms which are expected to be finished by spring break.
