September AMS Students of the Month

The teachers at Alva Middle School have selected Preslie Jones and Skyler Longhurst, eighth grade; Merritt Mantz and Isaac Anton, seventh grade; and Baylee Nesseralla and Graham Goss, sixth grade, as Alva Middle School Students of the Month for September.

Preslie Jones is in eighth grade and is the daughter of Jeremy and Gretchen Jones. Her grandparents are Ron and Judy Payne, and Bernard and Julie Jones. Her favorite classes are language arts and Electric Voices Show Choir. She is involved in basketball and sleeping. She was in student government in her previous school. In the future, she would like to be involved in the entertainment industry as a singer, comedian, actress or YouTuber. Additionally, she wants people to know that "tallness" is not her only trait.

Skyler Longhurst is in eighth grade and is the son of Karston and Danielle Longhurst. His grandparents are Jim Blaisdell, Cathay Blaisdell, Dennis Longhurst and DyAna Longhurst. His favorite classes are history and Electric Voices Show Choir. He is involved in student council, basketball, and church youth group. He currently holds the office of treasurer for the Alva Middle School Student Council.

Merritt Mantz is in seventh grade and is the daughter of Tyler and Alex Mantz. Her grandparents are Roger and Betty Mantz, and Dahl and Peggy Drenning. Her favorite classes are math and Electric Voices Show Choir. She is involved in student council, 4-H, academic team, livestock judging, cross country, TSA, and track. She currently holds office of president for the Alva Middle School Student Council. In the future, she would like to be a forensic psychologist.

Isaac Anton is in seventh grade and is the son of Philip and Connie Anton. His grandparents are Mark and Nancy Anton. His favorite classes are science and Electric Voices Show Choir. He is involved in band, cross country, track, soccer, Act I Theatre and library ambassadors. In the future, he would like to do something with music for a career.

Baylee Nesseralla is in sixth grade and is the daughter of Pete and Courney Nesseralla. Her grandparents are Donna Roe, John Roe, and Jo Roe. Her favorite classes are math, reading, basketball and explore classes. She is involved in AMS student council, basketball, ARC League basketball, and two softball teams. In the future, she would like to be a professional softball player.

Graham Goss is in sixth grade and is the son of Trent and Cidy Goss. His grandparents are Bev Burger and Betty Goss His favorite classes are math and basketball. He is involved in student council, basketball, baseball, Warriors Basketball, football and Alva Renegade Baseball. In the future, he would like to be an NBA or MLB player. Additionally, he has previously been a Lincoln Leader, on the school safety committee, and has won the Overall PRIDE Award at Lincoln Elementary.

These students received lunch provided by Gambino's of Alva as an extension of the Alva Middle School Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Program implemented in the Alva Public Schools. The Students of the Month Program at Alva Middle School is sponsored and organized by Kandee Almgren.
