The Timberlake chapter of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) attended the 77th FCCLA National Leadership Conference held in Sand Diego, California. The conference was back in full force, after two years of virtual and hybrid conferences.
Timberlake's Krissa McDonald and Shelby Pippin were part of the 41 Top 10 qualifiers with their project called Shine Light on FCCLA in Promote and Publicize, FCCLA, Level 1 and received a silver medal. Oklahoma FCCLA had a record-breaking membership year, with 14,700 members, allowing a record-breaking nine students to serve as Voting Delegates for the state. Alexis Olson received a silver medal for her project called One Fish, Two Fish, Dead Fish, New Fish in Sustainability Challenge, Level 2. Timberlake students, their adviser, and the chaperones all served as volunteers in judging other competitive events as well.
Conference highlights include Red Talks, led by FCCLA members, the "bucket list" keynote speaker, Kenyon Salo, and a special event outing to the world-famous San Diego Zoo.
The convention concluded Sunday evening with Morrison FCCLA's Zeb Kelly completing his term as the National Vice President of Community Service. The National FCCLA Organization is a school-based national youth leadership development organization of more than 199,000 student members in all 46 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
