In old business, several items were discussed. The Alva Recreation Center concession fundraiser is set and ready to go.
We discussed the Alva Police Department equipment fundraiser and our participation in the family fun day. The dunk tank that was going to be used by the Hens has a leak and it will not be available. It was decided a bake sale will be set up instead. The funds from the bake sale will help to fund our 4th of July daytime activities in the park.
Our flyer for our 4th of July daytime activities in Hatfield Park is just about ready to go and we are working on obtaining the funds we need to be able to make it a great event. Donations can be sent to The Little Red Hens, P.O. Box 5, Alva, OK 73717. A town-wide garage sale was discussed. There are some ladies working on getting all the information we need to move forward on this.
A report was given on the Helping Hearts and Hands program. It was reported that it is very close to being ready to go. The Hens agreed to fund the program with a set amount and replenish the funds as needed.
In new business the group decided to award a senior scholarship of $250. We are excited that this scholarship will be awarded with a service to your community foundation and that we are able to give a scholarship in 2022.
The Little Red Hens one-year anniversary is coming up in July but discussion on what kind of celebration we will have was tabled until our June meeting.
Our treasurer gave her report followed by the director's report.
As always, new members are welcome and encouraged to join us the first Tuesday of every month at Cancun Restaurant at 6 p.m. If you do not have transportation, a member will be happy to pick you up and take you home. Please call 580-732-0927 for a ride. We invite everyone to enjoy a great meal or just join us with a glass of tea or water. All ladies are welcome.
