School board contests, city and school propositions on April 5 ballots

Voters will go to the polls Tuesday, April 5, in the board of education and special elections. Alfalfa County voters in two school districts will be voting. There are no school board races in Woods County.

Cherokee School District voters will be choosing between Amber K. Wilhite and Heather Collins for Office No. 2 on the school board.

Timberlake school board candidates for Office No. 2 are Kodee Shaklee Nickel and Justin Barney.

In addition, registered voters in the Burlington school district will be voting on a school bond issue proposition which was covered in the March 23 Newsgram.

There are three propositions up for voting in Woods County. Registered voters inside the city limits of Freedom will be voting on a proposition to eliminate voting for a town clerk/treasurer.

City of Waynoka voters will be deciding whether or not to approve an added one-cent city sales tax to fund the construction of a swimming pool.

Voters in the Waynoka school district will be voting on a school bond issue proposition.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Early voting is available starting Thursday, March 31. The hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday. In Alfalfa County, early voting is held at the election board office, 602 W. 5th St., Suite 3, Cherokee. In Woods County, early voting is at the election board office, 427 Barnes Ave., Suite 2, Alva.
