County farm bureaus will celebrate the organization's dedication to agriculture as the base of Oklahoma's economic prosperity, as Oklahoma Farm Bureau Week was proclaimed for the week of Feb. 21-25, 2022.
Different farm bureaus across the state use the week to host events in their local communities to raise awareness of Farm Bureau and share the benefits of a Farm Bureau membership. Alfalfa County commissioners Mike Roach, Jay Hague, and Marvin Woodall signed documents recognizing the proclamation during their meeting earlier this week.
The chairman at Alfalfa County Conservation District, Scott Cormack, was there and took a moment to thank the commissioners and pose for a picture. After they made the proclamation, the three officials took on the task of reading and reviewing previous meeting minutes, maintenance and operation warrants for payment, blanket purchase orders, and payroll.
They each gave the necessary signatures to approve those items and moved on to open bids for brush rigs for Burlington and Amorita-Byron responders. Each proposal was from Seth Wadley. Burlington's came in at $52,094 while Amorita-Byron's $51,524. Responders from both precincts were on hand to look over the specs and confirmed to commissioners that each unit was acceptable. Commissioners voted to award both bids.
Regarding the American Rescue Plan Act funds, County Clerk Laneta Schwerdtfeger gave the three men information on a webinar. She also said she was looking for clarity concerning a CDFA number on ARPA paperwork. (The CDFA is a five-digit number assigned in the awarding document to most grants and cooperative agreements funded by the Federal government.) She said she didn't remember seeing one but would go back and look.
Next, the commissioners made some declarations of surplus. One was for a 2015 Stihl Auger (Inv. no. D2 341-202, Serial no. 502601174) from District 2, and the others for two tool sheds – storage buildings. One was a 10x12 (the north one that is not on inventory and has no serial number), and the other an 8x12 located to the south (Inv. no. B619 100, no Serial no.). They approved equipment disposal resolutions for the surplus and then signed a transfer document to donate the 10x12 structure to Cherokee Public Schools. Lastly, the men signed a request to remove Dustin Walker as receiving officer for Helena Rescue.
