Goldbugs overwhelm Blackwell 65-18

Coach Shane Feely was able to rotate players in and out of the game with Blackwell Tuesday night to give the younger athletes some experience. The Goldbugs led the entire game against the youthful Maroons to win 65-18.

The game began slowly until Homecoming King Braden Hofen made a layup on a Chuck Shelite assist to open the scoring. As the quarter wound down, the Goldbugs led 12-4. Kyler Penco sank a three from the right corner at the buzzer to Alva up 15-4.

In the second period, Alva seemed to score at will. The Goldbugs poured in 29 points while holding Blackwell scoreless. At the half, Alva led 44-4.

In the third period, more Goldbugs came off the bench, giving the Maroons the chance to score five points. Meanwhile the Alva team added 12 more points to lead 56-9 at the end of third quarter.

In the final period, the Maroons added another nine points. Even more Goldbugs got on the scoreboard, and Alva won 65-18.
