Injury accident caused by inattention

Inattention was blamed for a collision with injuries in Harper County on Monday. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at 2:18 p.m. at County Road 1730 and County Road 21, which is two miles west of Laverne.

Rena Spray, 34, of Laverne, was driving a 1998 Dodge Durango westbound on County Road 21 following a 2015 Mack semi driven by Dean Sams, 46, of Laverne. Sams was turning into a driveway. Spray was on her phone, according to her passenger, causing her vehicle to strike the rear end of the trailer pulled by the semi.

The passenger in Spray’s vehicle, Gary Taylor, 53, of Amarillo, Texas, was transported by Air Evac to St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. He is listed in stable condition with injuries to the lower extremities. Spray was treated and released at Harper County Hospital. Sams was not injured. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.
