Funeral services for Wayne Leroy Wiersig will be Friday, October 22, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Roggow officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Wayne Leroy Wiersig, son of the late Walter William and Gertrude Henrietta (Brakhage) Wiersig, was born May 2, 1942, in Alva, Oklahoma, and passed away, October 15, 2021, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 13 days.
Wayne attended Zion Lutheran School. He started farming at a young age. On April 8, 1973, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Schroeder. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He worked many years for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company, although he worked on the farm most of his life.
Wayne was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. He was very mechanically inclined and could work on or build almost anything. He loved to work on tractors.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Zerener-Hudson.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Alva; two sons, Brian Wiersig (of Newcastle, Oklahoma) and Kevin Wiersig (of Grand Island, Nebraska), and one sister, Darlene Wiersig (of Portland, Oregon); other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Zion Lutheran Church.
