Burlington School News: Service with a Splash

"How could community service be more enjoyable?" you may ask yourself.

Burlington FFA students spend an afternoon each year doing community service around town. On Aug. 24, Burlington FFA members built a new sandbox, built a dome for the playground, cleaned out the old sandbox to put new sand in, built a new sandbox digger, cleaned tables at the park, pulled weeds out of wood chips, and cleaned the show barn. Most FFA members attended and accomplished a lot in two and a half hours.

Students were then rewarded with supper and swimming at Charles Garvie's house. The weather was quite warm, so swimming was a perfect reward for the students and made it all worth it.

Service with a Splash allows members to work together to give back to the community.
