WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A homeless woman has been charged in the fatal stabbing of a man whose body was found earlier this month in a Wichita alley.
Latoya Annette McCurn, 34, told investigators she stabbed 49-year-old Van Hung Nguyen because he wouldn't stop grabbing and slapping at her legs and buttocks or making sexual comments to her, the Wichita Eagle reported.
Nguyen's body was found on Aug. 17 with a single stab wound to his chest.
McCurn has been charged with first-degree murder. Police have said she told investigators that she had met Nguyen earlier in the day and that she repeatedly told him to stop "messing with her." Nguyen left at some point to get beer, and McCurn told officers that she vowed to herself to stab him if he continued to touch her when he got back.
When he did it again, police said she relayed, she took a kitchen knife from her bag and stabbed him in the chest. He wandered off with his beer after the stabbing and collapsed near a dumpster, police said.
McCurn is being held on $250,000 bond. Police said that she had recently been released from prison in Texas after serving a sentence there for arson-related charges.
