Porsha Binning of the South Barber FFA Chapter was recently awarded the State FFA Degree during the June 2-4 virtual 93rd Kansas FFA Convention.
The state degree is the highest honor the Kansas FFA Association can bestow upon its members. In order to achieve this award, members must meet the following requirements: have received their Chapter FFA Degree, been an FFA member and agricultural education student for at least two years, earned at least $2,000 or worked 600 hours in their Supervised Agricultural Experience program, given a six-minute speech about agriculture or FFA, participated in eight different leadership activities, received a "C" average or better in high school and shown a record of outstanding leadership and community involvement.
Porsha was a two year member of the Atwood FFA Chapter and most recently a two year member of the South Barber FFA Chapter. Porsha excelled in the areas of beef, swine, equine, and poultry production as part of her supervised agricultural experience program (SAE). Porsha has been a member of many CDE judging teams was involved in public speaking, held chapter office and was involved in many other leadership activities throughout her four years as a Kansas FFA member.
State degree recipients received a state degree charm – a symbol of the member's growth and development – sponsored by Kansas Electric Cooperatives and Sunbelt Solomon Solutions.
