The Woods County 4-H program has received a $1,000 donation from the Alva Farmer's Cooperative Association and it was matched through a special program from the Land O'Lakes Foundation of St. Paul, Minnesota. This donation will provide needed support for several Woods County 4-H club activities, community projects and educational programs.
Greg Highfill, Woods County OSU Extension director, said "Woods County 4-H receives outstanding support from our local businesses and individual donors, and this is one more great example of that support." He continued, "The Alva Farmers Co-op has been a longtime supporter of Woods County 4-H and other related youth programs and this gift is just one more example of their wonderful generosity."
Charlotte Murrow, Alva Farmers Co-op general manager, stated "4-H is a wonderful organization, and we are proud to support the youth involved in this youth development program." Woods County 4-H has over 125 members who are involved in a variety of endeavors including project work, leadership activities and community service.
Alva Co-op Assistant General Manager Kevin Pingelton added "Our Woods County youth are very active in several community service projects as well as completing numerous 4-H activities that teach them responsibility and important life skills."
Highfill added, "Woods County 4-H is very appreciative to Kevin and Charlotte for the time and effort required to work with the Land O'Lakes Foundation to double this fantastic donation."
