Ramona Jean Shalloup, daughter of Alvena (Davidson) and Donald (Bud) Case, was born July 15, 1957. She passed away at Select Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City on the 19th day of September at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 4 days, after a lengthy illness.
She was a life-long resident of Alva, Oklahoma, where she attended grade school and high school, graduating with the class of 1975. Ramona studied at Northwestern Oklahoma State University graduating in 1980 with a double major in Home Economics and English. She continued her studies, earning a master's degree in education. In August of 1981, she began teaching at the Alva Junior High, later named Alva Middle School.
Ramona retired after 29 years of teaching. She loved her job, especially teaching home economics. She said it didn't seem like a "job," since she had so much fun with her students. Ramona was a gifted educator and earned the respect and appreciation of her students. Many of Ramona's famous recipes are still used in kitchens across Alva and beyond. Parents of Ramona's students were grateful for the units on table etiquette she taught as well as the good manners and proper English she expected from her students every day. Ramona's creative talents and skills in sewing and cooking were unsurpassed.
She and Lana Isenbart owned and operated the Sewing Attic located on the square in downtown Alva. Many benefited from the workshops and demonstrations and good times Ramona and Lana shared through their business. Although Ramona had many artistic talents, she also had a passion for cars, fast cars. She and C.G. were active members of the R.A.C.E. group of Alva, Oklahoma. She rarely missed a car show or cruising opportunity.
Ramona married C.G. Shalloup on October 9, 1976, and she never let him forget what a good deal he got that day. C.G. and Ramona shared many years together and accumulated many friends along the way. Family and friends were very important to Ramona, especially her nieces and nephews. She loved them with an unconditional grace that they returned to her again and again.
She was preceded in death by her parents; younger brother, Ken Case; parents-in-law, Tony and Alice (Clark) Shalloup; and sister-in-law, Teresa Shalloup.
She is survived by her husband, C.G .; sister Linda (Kenny) Pfleider of Alva; brother Larry (Rita) Case of Oklahoma City; brothers-in-law Tony (Linda) Shalloup of Springfield, Missouri; and Leon (Tina) Shalloup of Wichita, Kansas;
