One dead, two injured in Beaver County collision

A man from Guymon died and two others were injured in a Beaver County collision Friday. Emanuel Alvarez Alonzo, 23, of Guymon, was pronounced dead at the scene with head, trunk internal and trunk external injures by M.E. Investigator Juanita Galindo.

The collision occurred at 5:14 p.m. Friday, July 31, on US-412 and County Road 124, approximately 17 miles south and 2.2 miles east of Turpin.

Alonzo was driving a 2007 Nissan Quest eastbound on US-412. Ronald Henry Balzer, 78, of Broken Arrow, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on US-412. For an unknown reason Alonzo’s vehicle went left of center and struck the Balzer vehicle. Alonzo was ejected approximately 155 feet to the east and five feet south of the area of impact.

Balzer was pinned in his vehicle for approximately 25 minutes before being extracted by Balko Fire Department. Balzer was transported by Perryton EMS to Ochiltree General Hospital in Perryton, Texas, then later transferred to Northwestern Texas Hospital in Amarillo where he was admitted in stable condition with internal trunk and arm injuries.

A passenger in Balzer’s vehicle, Hijuana J. Balzer, 75, was transported by Perryton EMS to Ochiltree General Hospital in Perryton, Texas. She was later transferred to Northwestern Texas Hospital in Amarillo where she was admitted in stable condition with internal trunk injuries.

Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt although the passenger was. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
