Brown and King receive GAC honors Wednesday evening

ALVA – The Lady Rangers two leading scorers Bailey Brown and Kalea King were honored Wednesday evening at the annual Great American Conference awards banquet, as the conference announced their season accolades. Brown was awarded by being selected as a GAC second-team recipient. King was awarded as Honorable Mention All-GAC team.

Brown is being recognized after a great junior season where she was able to average 15.2 points per game along with 8.1 rebounds. These were both good for the fourth-best in the Great American Conference. The Enid native also averaged 2.9 offensive rebounds per game which were third in the conference. The 15.2 points per game was also a career-high for Brown.

The 2019-2020 season for Brown was a special one not only due to receiving these honors from the conference but also reached the milestones of 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in her career. Brown finished the season with eight 20-or-more scoring games including her career-high on Feb. 27 against Arkansas Tech, with 36 points in the outing. The junior forward finished the season with eight double-doubles on the year.

King is being honored for a tremendous senior season where she averaged 14.9 points for the Lady Rangers, which is second on the team. She finished the year second on the team in rebounding as well with 5.3 on the season. The 14.9 is seventh-best in the conference for scoring.

The Pflugerville native had a couple of her own milestones entering the top five in Northwestern Lady Ranger scoring history, along with reaching 1500 points in her career. She finishes the season with six games with at least 20 points, as well as two double-doubles on the season.
