No jailhouse blues in Alfalfa County

It was the first meeting of the new year for officials in Alfalfa County and, true to form, the three kicked off the 10 a.m. meeting right on schedule. Jay Hague, Stan Tucker and Marvin Woodall got down to business examining the usual documents: previous meeting minutes, blanket purchase orders and road crossing permits. (There was one road crossing in District 3 for $750.)

Since it is the beginning of the month, appropriations, monthly officer reports, monthly highway expenditures, and allocation of the alcohol beverage tax were to be reviewed as well, with all items receiving approval.

Commissioners moved on to appoint a new vendor for pest control services for the courthouse and fairgrounds, ultimately choosing Actshon Pest Control. Next, approval was given to renew Jon Nichols's and Margaret Goss's services to the EMS Board for five years, followed by the approval of the temporary changing of receiving officers to Jo Thompson from Amanda Jones. Commissioners then signed off on the mileage reimbursement rate ($0.575) for 2020 set by the State Auditor.

Declarations of surplus were made afterward: an oak computer desk (Invoice no. 100.02, no serial number), an oak computer desk (Invoice no. 100.03, no serial number), another oak computer desk (Invoice no. 100.04, no serial number), and a server cabinet (Invoice no. 100.21, Serial no. 2M2402341HR). Resolutions for the disposal of all items were approved.

Before adjourning the meeting, commissioners went down to the first floor to do their yearly jail inspection. Everything checked out and looked good to the commissioners with Tucker saying, "It's the cleanest jail in the county!"
