The Woods County Fair Board Election is scheduled for Jan. 21. The Woods County commissioners passed the election resolution during their Dec. 30 meeting. The filing period will be Jan. 13-17 at the Woods County Clerk’s office. The nine-member fair board has an election each year for three of the member seats. Those on the board whose seats are up for election are Cody McMurphy, District 1; Brooke Meyer, District 2; and Kevin Pingelton, District 3.
The commissioners waited a week so they could study the six month bids determining who will provide various products and services for the first half of the year. In most cases, each commissioner chose the lowest bid price as the best. A plant at Clinton had the lowest bid on hot asphalt, but the commissioners said it would cool too much in transport from that distance. Instead they chose the Cummins bid with a closer location. Trucking company bids were for the same amount, so each commissioner chose a company for his district.
On a request from the sheriff’s office, the commissioners approved removing a taser from inventory as surplus to be junked.
The commissioners approved a claim form for $1,300 from Pinnacle Consulting Management Group on the Green Leaf Creek project. The money is for securing right of ways from landowners in the area of the bridge project which is by the fire station.
A REAP grant contract for Woods County/Woods County Conservation District was approved. The $50,000 is to be used for wildfire mitigation equipment.
The commissioners also approved payroll, warrants and claims as well as blanket purchase orders.
