Cherokee put up the town Christmas tree Monday, Nov. 18. Schaun Aker of Cherokee Main Steet said it is the biggest Christmas tree Cherokee's ever had. The tree will be lit the evening of Dec. 4 after the town's Christmas parade, which begins at 7 p.m. Here, the tree is being installed in the gap left after tearing down a rapidly deteriorating building (originally a J.C. Penneys, and later the Waffle House cafe). The city plans to make that area a pocket park.
