The Cherokee FFA held their annual labor auction and dinner on Nov. 12 at the Alfalfa County Fairgrounds. Approximately 200 people were served calf fries, smoked pork chops, cheesy potatoes, rolls, cobblers and drink.
A total of 55 FFA members and one advisor averaged $285 each for up to eight hours of labor.
Ten dessert items were donated for a silent auction in addition to a live auction of calf fries, pork chops, two homemade cobblers and a picnic table constructed by the Ag Power and Technology class that were auctioned off by auctioneer Josh Bellamy.
The gross total was over $19,000 including donations made for the meal. Many volunteers helped cook the meal, donated desserts and helped in the kitchen before, during and after the event. All proceeds financially assist the Cherokee FFA chapter throughout the year as they compete and attend activities to enhance their FFA experience.
