JOHN LEE WILKINSON

John Lee, son of May (Stone) and LeDrew Wilkinson, was born March 4, 1940, in Alva, Oklahoma. He passed away on November 17, 2019, at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 13 days,

John was perhaps best known as the rural letter carrier with the United States Post Office serving the surrounding Alva area. He also worked at the government printing office in Washington, D.C.

He is remembered fondly by his family for his keen sense of humor and passion for the stock market. He had a deep love of the ocean and sailing. One of his fondest memories was a week-long cruise on a sailboat, The Rose, and getting to help sail the vessel. He was also an avid bicyclist, who undertook various trips and marathons across the state of Oklahoma on his bicycle.

John was a devout Christian who seriously studied the words of his Heavenly Father.

John is preceded in death by his three sisters, LaDonna Andree, Betty Williams and JoAnn Bennett, and granddaughter Melodie Mae McLaughlin.

He is survived by his daughter Debbie McLaughlin, son Doug Wilkinson, brother Bob Wilkinson, grandchildren Chris Wilkinson, Kessler McLaughlin, Lacey McLaughlin, Danielle Roy, Joshua Wilkinson and great-grandchildren Sophia, Jude, Silas and Keegan Wilkinson.

John’s ashes will be spread in the Pacific Ocean in keeping with his deep love for the ocean.
