RUSSELVILLE, Ark. – Northwestern Oklahoma State University's volleyball team has improved its 2019 season record to an astonishing 21-9, with a Great American Conference record of 11-3. Both of these records are the best record that any Ranger volleyball team has had – not only since joining the GAC, but in Ranger program history. Senior right-side hitter Kiauna Clark and junior Libero Sydnee Miller continue to push this program in the right direction.
Miller earned herself Great American Conference defensive player of the week for the third time this season after posting incredible defensive numbers to give the Rangers two huge match wins against Southern Nazarene University (3-1) and a rematch against rival Southwestern Oklahoma State (3-0). Since joining the GAC Miller is the first player to receive three defensive player of the week honors (Week 5, 8, 10) in the same season.
The Leander, Texas, native tallied 55 total digs on the week. Miller earned her sixth 30-plus dig match on the season as she tallied 34 digs against Southern Nazarene and earned 21 more during the Southwestern re-match. Through the week Miller tallied 7.9 digs per set.
Clark earned her first offensive player of the week honors after an outstanding week. The San Antonio. Texas, native had a total of 32 kills and an outstanding attack percentage of .478. Clark put 4.6 kills per set into the books with 16 kills in the Crimson Storm match and tallied another 16 kills, with an astounding zero errors against the Bulldogs. Clark also helped on the defensive end with ten total blocks (1.43 blocks per set) as well as 14 digs.
Miller, Clark and the Northwestern Ranger volleyball team will head to Ada for their final away game of the season against East Central. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
