Women's Soccer: Crimson Storm ride 1st-half goal to win over Eagles

BETHANY, Okla. (Sept. 19, 2019) – Erin Greenslade scored late in the first half for Southern Nazarene and the Crimson Storm rode that goal to a 1-0 win over visiting Oklahoma Christian on Thursday at Wes Harmon Field.

OC (0-5) and SNU (2-3) both took 14 shots in a game that started with the temperature hovering around 90 degrees. SNU caught the break it needed in the 43rd minute with Greenslade's unassisted goal.

The Eagles had a late offensive flourish, taking four shots in the final six minutes and forcing SNU goalkeeper Maci Attalla to make saves on shots by Corina Marin in the 89th minute and Denise Bennett in the 90th minute to secure the win for the Storm.

Attalla, who came on in the 74th minute in relief of starter Ashlynn Pritchett, had those two saves, while Pritchett also made two saves. Bennett and Oby Okeke each took three of the Eagles' shots.

OC goalkeeper Gabby Goddard made six saves. She's played every minute in goal for the Eagles so far this season.

The Eagles have two more road games in their current stretch of four contests away from home. OC will open Lone Star Conference play at league power Dallas Baptist (Texas) next Thursday, then will visit another LSC foe, Texas Woman's, on Sept. 28. OC's next home game will be Oct. 3 against St. Edward's (Texas).
