Casey Stengel’s life was dedicated to the sport of baseball. In addition to managing four major league teams, Stengel also worked for several years during his career as a minor league manager.
Prior to becoming a manager, Stengel was an accomplished player. A left-handed outfielder, Stengel played 1,277 games in the major leagues between 1912 and 1925. He wore the uniform of five National League teams: the Brooklyn Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Giants, and Boston Braves.
