The first agenda item on the Woods County commissioners' regular Monday morning meeting was to approve the minutes from the last regular meeting on April 15.
A proclamation for Earth Day for Oklahoma Home and Consumer Education (OHCE) group was made. Dr. Janet Cunningham represented the OHCE for this Earth Day proclamation. The City of Alva has signed one. The proclamation was also read at the council meeting last week. The OHCE is hosting a poster contest at Lincoln, planting shrubs, trees, and flowers. Earth Day was April 22.
Up next, a road crossing permit for DSL Underground was approved. The commissioners briefly discussed the March 2019 Detention Transportation Claim in the amount of $115.26 and approved it.
The 2019 Employee Personnel Policy Handbook was discussed and modified due to new drug and alcohol laws (medical marijuana). The handbook had not been updated yet. Also, information about vacation hours was updated. The commissioners approved these changes.
Next, the status of computer ID No. D250-024 for District 1 was changed to surplus. Another inventory item discussed was for District 2's new 140 Cat grader (bought on Source Well contract). The total cost of the grader is $334,505.21, including interest with a 60-month payout. The loan is with Community Bank at an interest rate of 4.3 percent. This item was approved.
Lastly, the commissioners discussed and approved the appointment of Rita Goodrich to the County Board of Health. With no new business, the meeting was adjourned.
