Barnes Street Church of Christ

Bible Baptist Church

Sunday, April 14: Our Sunday School and Adult Bible Study Groups start at 10 a.m. There are three graded classes for children, a teen class and two adult Bible classes. Join us for a time of learning and fellowship. Our worship service begins at 11 a.m. Come and sing the great hymns of faith and hear a message focused on making the Bible applicable to your life today.

Junior and Teen Impact, our student ministry for fourth through 12th grades, meets at 5 p.m. Looking for a Sunday night service? We have one starting at 6 p.m. Wise Guys & Gals also meets at 6 p.m. This ministry is for children in preschool to third grade.

Tuesday, April 9: Celebrate Recovery meets on Tuesday night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-based recovery program to help provide a safe place to discover a Savior who can give freedom from hang-ups, hurts and habits. Everyone is invited to attend.

Wednesday, April 10: Our midweek prayer meeting and Bible study begins at 7 p.m.

Easter Sunday, April 21: We will start with our Sunrise Service at 713 Lane at 6:30 a.m. Our main Resurrection Worship Service will be at 11 a.m. After church, we will have a Gigantic Easter Egg Explosion for preschool through fifth-grade children.

Cedar Grove Wesleyan Church

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Service times at Alva Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have changed: Sunday meetings will now be two hours instead of the previous three-hour block. The Alva Branch will now conduct services from 10 a.m. to noon each Sunday at the church building located at 1467 Thunderbird Rd., next to the Alva Recreation Center. Visitors are always welcome.

General authorities of the church at headquarters in Salt Lake City announced the change, effective in January, at the church's semi-annual General Conference in October. Leaders also announced a new program of home gospel study for individuals and families that correlates with the Sunday lessons.

The new two-hour block will consist of two meetings each week. Sacrament meeting (worship service) is scheduled 10-11 a.m. for all ages. The second hour will alternate between Sunday school for youth and adults on the first and third Sundays and Relief Society/Priesthood for adults and Young Men/Young Women for youth on the second and fourth Sundays. The branch president will determine the fifth Sunday curriculum. Children will attend Primary classes every Sunday for the second hour.

The curriculum for home study, Sunday school and Primary will center on the New Testament throughout the year with a theme of “Come Follow Me.” Anyone seeking more information can contact the Alva missionaries at 580-278-5592.

College Hill Church of Christ

Sixth-grade to 12th-grade students are invited to come to this fun place to hang out after school and through the summer. The eXtreme, located at 425 College Ave. in Alva, is under the direction of youth pastor Stony Kalonga. Sumer hours at the eXtreme are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

First Assembly of God

Sunday, April 14: Sunday school classes will begin at 9:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. is worship service; children will lead the Palm Sunday Parade of Palms. The Sherrill Bell Choir will ring. Dr. Carol Cook Moore's sermon, “Do You Know What Time It Is?” is from Luke 19:28-40. Liturgist, Children's Time and ushers are members of United Methodist Youth. At 4 p.m., the Adult Confirmation Class will meet in Choir Loft Classroom At 6 p.m. our church will host the Alva Ministerial Alliance Community Palm Sunday Service in the sanctuary, followed by a dessert fellowship in the basement. Monday, April 15 – Friday, April 19: Alva Ministerial Holy Week devotional services meet at the Wesleyan church at noon, followed by lunch provided by a different Alva church daily.

Tuesday, April 16: United Methodist Women Circles meet: Priscilla at 9:30 a.m. in Church Parlor, Mary-Martha at 2 p.m. in Church Parlor, Hannah at 7 p.m. in Church Parlor. Hopeton Church

Hopeton: a non-typical church! You don't have to dress in a suit to be accepted; you can wear your jeans, get a cup of coffee, and enjoy contemporary music, great videos, and a relevant message.

Hopeton Church meets at 10 a.m. at the main campus in Hopeton, just a few short miles south of Alva on 281. Coffee bar begins at 9:30 a.m. in the new children's wing. We have something for every age: nursery, children, teens, adults, women's support groups, and adult small H.O.M.E. groups for fellowship.

Nazarene Church

Donut and coffee fellowship is at 9:15 each Sunday morning, Bible study for ages 6 and up at 9:30, and worship begins at 10:30 a.m. Nursery is available for children under age 6 during worship. Missions lessons for ages 6 through fifth grade are held the second and fourth Sundays of the month.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church

Zion Lutheran Church
