Steen and Matros Sweep GAC Players of the Week

RUSSELVILLE, Ark. – Tiger Baseball sweeps Great American Conference Player of the Week honors as Louis Steen and Brandon Matros are recognized for their weekend performances.

The Tigers won the series this past weekend against Southwestern Oklahoma State University with 6-1 and 7-5 victories over the Bulldogs.

Louis Steen had an incredible weekend going 6-11 on the weekend with five doubles and a homerun. He would drive in seven runners and score himself four times. He would amass a slugging percentage of 1.364 and steal one base. He would man the center field gathering 13 putouts on the weekend. In the second game Steen would hit two doubles and a homerun accounting for three of the Tiger's nine runs.

Brandon Matros would start off the first game against the Bulldogs for the Tigers. The ace pitcher would throw a complete game only allowing one run in the game. He struck out six batters during the game only allowing three hits to the Bulldogs. Southwestern Oklahoma State hit an average of .103 against the junior Tiger. The win gave Matros his third on the season which is the most of any Tiger.

The Tigers will return to Rab Rodgers field March 22 as they face off against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
