ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Sophomores Lani Snowden and Karrington Whaley combined for 30 points as the Reddies scored 56 in the second half to take down Ouachita Baptist 75-62 and sweep the season series against the Lady Tigers.
The Reddies shot just 24 percent from the floor and scored 21 points in the first half, but turned things around by shooting 57 percent after the break.
Hailey Estes finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for her 17th career double-double and passed Angela Brown to become the fifth leading rebounder in program history. The Reddies have now won 10 of the last 11 meetings with Ouachita Baptist.
Henderson (16-6, 11-5), who has now won four-straight, is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 16, when it heads to Searcy, Arkansas, looking for the season sweep of Harding at 5:30 p.m.
1st Quarter
The Reddies got off to a rocky start on Thursday evening, as Ouachita hit three of its first four shots and took an early 7-3 lead. HSU held the Lady Tigers scoreless for more than four minutes down the stretch of the first quarter, but still trailed after the opening period, 11-10.
2nd Quarter
Henderson remained cold to start the second quarter, as Ouachita used an 11-2 run to take its biggest lead, 22-12. The Reddies responded with an 8-0 run, highlighted by back-to-back 3-pointers from Whaley and Snowden, but the Lady Tigers retook control, ending the quarter on a 5-1 spurt to carry a 26-21 lead into the halftime break.
3rd Quarter
After making adjustments at the half, the Reddies came out of the break firing. Down 29-21, HSU went on a 16-4 run, which included back-to-back 3-pointers from Maci Mains, to take its first lead of the game, 37-33. Ouachita tied the game at 40, but another 3-pointer from Estes gave the Reddies a 50-46 lead and all the momentum heading into the final quarter of play.
4th Quarter
The Lady Tigers opened the fourth with a three to cut the Reddies' lead to one point, but that would be as close as they would get for the remainder of the game. Whaley scored six-straight points in response and a 3-pointer from Snowden put the exclamation point on a lightning-quick 9-0 run that extended HSU's advantage out to 59-49. OBU could not find a big run in the game's final minutes, as the Reddies cruised to victory, 75-62.
