Ouachita Drops One to Talladega in First Ever Meeting

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Ouachita Baptist (4-5) allowed Talladega College (12-3) to overcome a six point half time lead to win 65-61 in the winter exhibition.

This was the first ever meeting between the two schools did not disappoint as both teams went back and forth from the tip. Wesley Franklin led the way for the Tigers with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Eric Brown also put up a good showing as the guard scored 10 points on 3-4 shooting from three. Ouachita forced 17 turnovers from the Tornados allowing the Tigers to score 16 points off of the Talladega mistakes.

The Tornados went up early starting the game on a 5-0 run; however, the Tigers clawed their way into the game returning each shot that Talladega took. On a three pointer by Wesley Franklin the Tigers took their first lead of the game at 14-12. Ouachita did not relinquish that lead for the rest of the half with their largest lead being 8 after a jumper by Grant Jones. The Tigers went into the half up six large in part to their 9-16 shooting from three.

After the break, the Tornados went on an 11-0 run which was put to a hault by Franklin. After going down by six, the Tigers went on a 6-0 run lead by Morris Talbert to tie the game at 45 a piece. Battling back and forth Ouachita tied it again at 53-53. The closest that the Tigers got to the lead was two points with 15 seconds left in the game.

Ouachita shot over 50% from three (10-20), but only went 1-4 in the Second Half.

For the second game in a row the Tigers had 13 offensive rebounds leading to 10 second chance points.

Ouachita had 16 assists on 20 made field goals.

This game was an Exhibition and does not effect the team's record.

Ouachita will get to enjoy the Christmas holidays before traveling to Oklahoma to face Southern Nazarene University on January 3 and Oklahoma Baptist on January 5.
