Woods County commissioners discuss bridge work

All commissioners were in attendance, along with County Clerk Shelley Reed, Kat Lunn, Donny Head and Darren Slater.

After the usual meeting action items, the first five notable items were related to bridge inspections and building between the commissioners and Donny Head (Circuit Engineering District #8 program manager).

First, bridge inspection invoice no. 676248 as well as the report of conference between CED #8 and Woods County were approved. The title sheet for bridge no. 213 for District 1 was approved. Next, bids for materials and bids for labor were also approved.

Hamil, seconded by Smiley, motioned to approve the warrants and claims. Hamil and Smiley again motioned to approve the minutes from the Nov. 5 meeting.

Select Energy Services had a road crossing permit for a water line approved – motioned by Smiley, seconded by McMurphy.

McMurphy, seconded by Smiley, motioned to approve an installation permit for Kevin Thiesing to construct a waterway in combination with the bar ditch along the south side of SE 16-26N-14W.

Monthly reports for the court clerk and sheriff’s offices were approved. The court clerk’s balance is $246,857.86 and the sheriff’s office collections are $3,880.58. The board of prisoners expenses are at $7,150.15.

The Detention Service Agreement between Sequoyah Enterprises and Woods County was discussed, then approved by Hamil and seconded by McMurphy.

The Avard Rail Authority Board had some business that needed attention. Joe Royster resigned from the board by letter and Allan Poe was appointed as member.

Three rural fire departments had equipment requests and needs. Greenleaf needs about $2,900 worth of equipment, Capron requested $9,000 in equipment, and Waynoka requested $8,000 in equipment.

The county will be having an employee safety meeting on Dec. 6. The all county offices will shut down at noon that day.

New business is the City of Alva Christmas parade on Dec. 1 at 5 p.m.

Smiley, seconded by Hamil, motioned to approve blanket purchase orders. The meeting was then adjourned.
