SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist scored two weekly awards with Lara Haring-Lovett and Emily Griffith being selected as Great American Conference Defender and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, the GAC announced Tuesday.
Haring-Lovett, a junior from Norman, started both games last week at defender and was instrumental in keeping Southern Nazarene to three shots and East Central to six.
For Haring-Lovett, his is the first award of the season and her second career GAC Defensive Player of the Week. She also won the award last year. OBU has won the honor five times this season with four different Lady Bison (Jennifer Goethe (twice), Kerregan Edwards and Kelsey Bumgarner all winning in each of the previous four weeks.
Griffith, a redshirt sophomore from Parker, Colorado, was in goal for more than 80 minutes in each of OBU's shutout wins. She had one save against SNU and three against East Central to extend OBU's shutout streak to six matches.
This is the fifth consecutive week for Griffith to pick up the honor. She has now won the distinction eight times in her career.
