NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Two people are in custody after authorities in Oklahoma found 1,262 pounds of liquid methamphetamine in the fuel tank of a tractor-trailer truck.
The Norman Police Department says the meth was found in a diesel-powered semi-truck that was parked at a motel Monday morning.
Authorities say 1,262 pounds of liquid meth was stored in the truck's passenger-side fuel tank. Police estimated the street value of the drug at $4.4 million and say it was one of the largest drug seizures recorded in Oklahoma.
Authorities say the truck driver, 36-year-old Enrique Lara of Chicago, and a passenger, 21-year-old Jasmine Morales of McAllen, Texas, were arrested on a complaint of aggravated trafficking. Cleveland County Jail records do not indicate if they are represented by an attorney.
