Woods County Free Fair has entertainment for all ages

There are many so things to see and do at the Woods County Free Fair to be held at the Woods County Fairgrounds on Sept. 6–8. Activities scheduled will be fun for the entire family.

The Death by Chocolate contest will be decided by a panel of judges beginning Thursday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Women’s Building on the fairgrounds. Again this year, there will be a junior division in the Death by Chocolate contest for youth 18 years of age and younger. Anyone can enter their favorite chocolate item – a cake, pie, dessert, cookies, brownies or anything using the best chocolate ingredients. The top three chocolate dishes in both the adult and junior divisions can win cash prizes.

On Friday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. the Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) groups will have their annual ice cream contest. Everyone is invited to make a freezer of their favorite ice cream. Entries should be taken to the Women’s Building by 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Following judging, cups of homemade ice cream can be purchased for just $1.

There will also be several outdoor activities for kids and families, including bounce houses, a trackless train and food trucks. A breakaway roping competition will be held on Friday at 5 p.m., and on Saturday at 2 p.m. there will be a team roping competition.

Fabulous food will be available all during the fair at the fair kitchen with daily specials. Don’t forget to visit all the vendors in the Merchants Building. As always, there will be lots of free giveaways, interesting items for sale, as well as great information from our local businesses. Come early, enjoy the entire Woods County Free Fair.
