MISS SOUTH BARBER 2018 – Karlissa Little is the new 2018 Miss South Barber in Kiowa, Kansas. She is the daughter of Joy Little and will represent her school next fall in the Miss Cinderella talent show and pageant during NWOSU's Homecoming in Alva. For her talent Karlissa sang "Through the Night."

MRS. SOUTH BARBER? As the candidates were onstage awaiting announcement of the 2018 Miss South Barber, candidate Haylie Drake temporarily halted the proceedings. She called retiring SBHS Family and Consumer Science teacher Cheryl Swartz to the stage. Haylie and contestant ReAnna Dunlap greet their beloved teacher with a hug, tiara, a peace lily and give her the title of Mrs. South Barber. Swartz retires after 31 years in education. Her first two years were at Hardtner, then Medicine Lodge and the last 12 at South Barber.
