Powell Named GAC Track Athlete of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Rogers State's Quintin Powell was named the Great American Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the GAC on Tuesday (March 20) afternoon.

Powell, a senior from Oklahoma City, won the 200- and 400-meter dashes and was part of the 4x100 meter relay team that was victorious for three event wins to start the outdoor season on Thursday at the OBU Early Outdoor Invitational. In the first event of the season, Powell ran a provisional time of 47.70 seconds in the 400 meters, the third-fastest time in the country. He won the 200 meters in 21.61 seconds, and the relay team posted a time of 41.76 seconds. This is Powell's first weekly award this year in the first week of the outdoor season.

Powell earned Second Team All-American honors as a junior in the 400 meters. As a junior, he won the GAC Championship in the 400 meters and holds the RSU school record in the event.

The Hillcats return to action on March 31 at the ESU Relays hosted by Emporia State in Emporia, Kan.
