BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Fifth-seeded Southeastern saw its 2017-18 season come to an end on Friday night in a 73-63 loss to No. 4 seed Harding in the quarterfinals of the Great American Conference Tournament in Bartlesville, Okla.
The loss ends the Savage Storm season with a 13-15 record.
Courtney Brady paced SE on offense with 16 points, while Sa'Liesha Hunter was right behind her with 15 on the night.
Katie Branam followed them with 14 points, but hit 4-of-4 from three in the effort, while Emem Davis was next in line with six points.
Branam also dished out a team-high three assists, with Hunter and Brady handing out to apiece.
David led the Storm on the board with six of the team's 21 rebounds.
SE opened the game on a 9-3 run, capped by a Brady layup, but finished the first quarter by getting outscored 11-2 and trailed 14-11 after the first.
Threes by Alix Robinson and Cierra Rangel would each tie the game early in the second quarter, and a David layup followed by a Hunter three would put the Storm back I front at 22-19 with 7:00 to go in the half.
The Bisons would score 11-straight in response as part of a larger 19-5 run to open up a 38-27 lead before a Rangel free throw would make it 38-28 at halftime.
The deficit grew as large as 14 points in the third before a Brady jumper kicked off an 11-2 run capped by a Hunter layup to make it 48-43 with 3:40 to go in the third.
However, HU would stop the run and close the period on a 9-2 run and the Storm would trail 67-45 at the quarter break.
Southeastern closed the gap early in the fourth quarter with a 12-6 run, cutting the deficit down to six points with 3:09 to play.
However, HU answered by pushing its lead back out to 10 points and SE was unable to rally, falling 73-63.
