SAU Softball's Taylor tabbed GAC Pitcher of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - After helping the Lady Muleriders jump out to a 4-0 start to the 2018 campaign, Southern Arkansas sophomore pitcher Victoria Taylor has been tabbed as the Great American Conference's Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league offices on Tuesday morning.

Taylor was dominant in both of her starts this weekend at the Ronnie Hawkins Invitational. The sophomore tossed a pair of complete game shutouts and racked up 19 strikeouts in 14 innings in the circle. A native of Greenwood, Arkansas, Taylor allowed just six hits and two walks as she faced 50 total batters with opponents hitting just .128 off of her. In the season-opening win over Southwest Baptist, Taylor fired a career-high 13 strikeouts and in the win over Lincoln she allowed just one hit.

An All-GAC Honorable Mention selection as a freshman, the weekly league honor is the second such accolade for Taylor in her career. The right-hander was named the conference's Pitcher of the Week for Week 5 of the 2017 season.

Southern Arkansas (4-0) hits the road again this weekend for a four-game slate at the North Texas Bash on Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4.
