Medford – The Lady Eagles beat Deer Creek-Lamont 48-41 on Friday night to move into the consolation championship. The game was tight the whole way with DCLA leading 14-13 after the first quarter. Lady Eagles held DCLA to only 6 points in the second as Freedom scored 13 again. Going into the second half Freedom had a 26-20 lead. DCLA had a 12-9 advantage in the third and made it a 3-point game going into the fourth quarter. Freedom returned the favor with a 13-9 fourth quarter advantage to seal the game. Summer Ralston led the team in scoring with 25 and she added 10 rebounds. Other scorers were Emily Reed with 7, Nicole Hughes 3, Vanessa Galindo 2, Allison Galindo 3, Katelyn Galemore with 8. Weber lead the team with 14 rebounds. Reed and Hughes had 3 steals each while Galemore lead the team with 4 assists.
The Lady Eagles played Aline-Cleo for the Consolation championship and lead the whole way. Defense was the name of the game as the Lady Eagles only gave up 8 points in the first half. In the middle of the fourth quarter, the Lady Eagles had built a 17 point lead. The final score was 36-25. Balanced scoring helped the Eagles as Summer Ralston had 11, Nicole Hughes 8, Lindsy Weber 6, Emily Reed 4, Katelynn Galemore 7 and Tamlynn Link 1. Ralston lead team in rebounds with 9. Hughes lead team with 2 steals.
Eagles Beat DCLA but Lose Out in Consolation
The Eagles beat Deer Creek-Lamont, 46-37, and made the consolation championship game. A fast start gave the Eagles a 17-5 lead after first quarter. DCLA made a little push in the second and the halftime score was 22-15 Eagles. The Eagles held a 10-5 advantage in the third quarter. DCLA made another small push in the fourth quarter scoring 17 points but the Eagles answered with 14 to hold onto the lead and win. Scorers were Blake Lee 18, Miles Nixon 10, Kris Fargo 6, Nathan Wood 5, Angel Cardenas 5 and Lance Bolar 2. Cardenas lead team in assists with 5, Nixon lead team with 15 rebounds and 3 steals.
The Eagles' big comeback fell short in the Consolation Championship losing 45-39. Shidler started out fast to a 18-5 lead and had a 21-10 lead at the half. The Eagles outscored Shidler 18-12 in the third and pulled within 4. Starting the fourth quarter the Eagles scored the first five points and took a 1 point lead. Shidler pulled away at the end with a 19-6 run to finish the game. The leading scorers were Kris Fargo with 25, Blake Lee 5, Myles Nixon 1, Lance Bolar 4, Angel Cardenas 2, Nathan Wood 3. Nixon led the team with 11 rebounds while Fargo had five steals to lead the team.
