Citizen award nominations sought

The Alva Chamber of Commerce is taking nominations for the Citizen of Distinction Awards. Nomination forms have been published in the Newsgram. You may also pick up a copy at the chamber office at 502 Oklahoma Blvd. The deadline for entries is Jan. 5.

Entries are being sought in eleven categories:

• Business of the Year

• Young Professional (age 21-40)

• Volunteer of the Year

• Teacher of the Year

• Citizen of the Year

• Lifetime Achievement Award

• Fireman of the Year

• Law Enforcement of the Year

• Healthcare Professional

• Youth Entrepreneur

• Arts, Music and Theatre Award

Awards will be presented during the Citizen’s Choice Awards Gala on Jan. 22 at the ACT I Theatre in Alva. Hors d’oeuvres and a social hour will be from 5 to 6 p.m. with a guest speaker at 6 p.m. followed by presentation of the awards. A silent auction will also be held.

Tickets for the event are available at the Alva Chamber of Commerce office or from members of the chamber board: Mary Hamilton, president; Melissa Fisher, past president; Brenda Hood, vice president; Natasha Foster, secretary; Van Johnson; Dee Wiebener; Cody McMurphy; Kelsey Martin and Connor Martin.
