Ten local stage veterans take theatre patrons on a hilarious holiday journey as their church Christmas program spins out of control in ACT I Theatre's production of "Christmas Belles," Dec. 14, 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m.
It's Christmas time in the small town of Fayro, Texas, and the Futrelle sisters – Frankie, Twink and Honey Raye – aren't in a festive mood. A cranky Frankie is weeks overdue with her second set of twins. Twink, recently jilted and bitter, is in jail for inadvertently burning down half the town. Honey Raye is having hot flashes while desperately trying to keep the Tabernacle of the Lamb's Christmas program from spiraling out of control. And Miss Geneva, the ruthless ousted director of the previous 27 productions, schemes to take over the show.
"This is a misadventure-filled Christmas Eve with hilarious twists and turns. The cast has to deal with squabbling sisters, family secrets, a surly Santa, a vengeful sheep and a reluctant Elvis impersonator. In keeping with the Jones-Hope-Wooten comedy style, the audience gets caught up in the fun and chaos," said Director Thamazin Harrison.
Members of the cast are Ann Kline as Miss Geneva Musgrave, Becky Marshall as Honey Raye Futrelle, Abbi Hall as Gina Jo (G.J.) Dubberly, Darrell Kline as John Curtis Buntner, Kathi Jenlink as Twink Futrelle, Steve Nutter as Dub Dubberly, Alica Hall as Frankie Futrelle Dubberly, Mandi Schoenhals as Rhonda Lynn Lampley, Alex Ridgway in duel roles as Justin Waverly and Raynerd Chisum, Betty Benson as Patsy Price and Christina Jenlink in a surprise role.
