Remember when: Jack Ging turns 86

Thursday, Nov. 30, actor Jack Ging turned 86. A native of Alva, Ging appeared in many roles in movies and TV shows. Casting agents seemed to like him particularly in authoritarian roles, either sheriffs and marshals or army officers.

A contributor to a Twilight Zone history website posted the reminder that Ging was featured as a used car lot patron captivated by huckster Harvey Hunicutt (Jack Carson) in "The Whole Truth." He and his wife (Nan Peterson) just want to buy a simple coupe, but an encounter with Hunicutt is never simple...

Jack Ging and Nan Peterson play a couple out for a used car purchase, who run afoul of the notorious huckster Harvey Hunicutt in "The Whole Truth."

Although he appeared in some high-profile feature films, such as Play Misty for Me (1971) and High Plains Drifter (1973), Ging made more of an impact as a recurring character on a number of television series. In Tales of Wells Fargo, he did 13 episodes as Beau McCloud; in The Eleventh Hour, he did 62 episodes as psychiatrist Dr. Paul Graham; on Mannix, he did eight episodes as Lt. Dan Ives; on Riptide, he was in 29 episodes as Lt. Ted Quinlan; and in The A-Team, he appeared eight times as General Harlan 'Bull' Fulbright.
