The Freedom Varsity girls got a win on Tuesday night with a 56-42 victory over Darrouzett. The game started slow with Freedom holding an 11-7 lead after one quarter. The girls then exploded for 23 points in the second quarter and had a 34-19 lead at the half.
The team was led by Summer Ralston who had 28 points, 8 rebounds and 7 blocks. Emily Reed had 8 points and 7 assists in her first high school start. Kate Galemore scored 6, and Nicole Hughes scored 5. Vanessa Galindo scored 5.
Leading the team on defense was Linsy Weber with 8 rebounds, 8 blocks and 3 steals. The next home game is slated for Tuesday, November 28, against Fargo-Gage, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The boys had to play a senior team with great experience and came up short. The boys held strong down 31-22 at the half. The size and depth was just too much as foul trouble also hurt the team. Darrouzett pulled away for a 64-33 win.
Nathan Wood had a good game with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Will Jessup scored 5 including his first three of the season. Blake Lee played good defense and rebounded well with 4 steals and 7 rebounds.
