DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern's woes continued as it dropped its third-straight contest in a 42-3 loss at home to Harding on Saturday afternoon at Paul Laird Field.
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 6-3 on the season heading into a Nov. 4 road contest against Arkansas Tech at 2 p.m. in Russellville, Ark.
"They came in and did exactly what they came to do," said Southeastern head coach Bo Atterberry, "And have done for the past six weeks now. They're a really good team, something you don't see every week. We didn't adjust well. You have to take advantage of opportunities you get on offense because there are so few. There were a lot of turnovers and drops."
The Storm offense struggled to find its footing and finished with 226 total yards, picking up 79 on the ground and 147 through the air.
Austin Skinner finished the game 11-of-30 passing for 147 with a long completion of 39 yards.
That long went to Skye Lowe who had three catches for 68 yards, while Jaylen Sims added four for 65 yards.
Rashod Polk finished the day with 24 yards on six carries to lead the rushing game.
Justin Young and Hunter Powell posted huge days on defense with 19 tackles each to lead all defenders, while Christian Banasiak added 10 stops in the effort.
Larry Bridges added another interception to his total, returning this one 2 yards, while Reggie Marshall recorded the game's only sack.
Joel Carlos pushed his SE record mark for made field goals to 37 with the lone points for the Storm, a 33 yard connection.
The Bisons got out to a 7-0 lead with a Terrence Dingle one yard touchdown run at the 9:38 mark of the first quarter and both teams fell quiet for the remainder of the opening frame.
The momentum shifted further away from the Storm in the second quarter as HU scored three touchdowns, two on the ground and one through the air before SE found its first points as Joel Carlos connected on a 33 yard field goal to send Southeastern to the half trailing 28-3.
The defenses fought to a stalemate throughout the third quarter until the Bisons capitalized on a Storm turnover deep in its own territory and five plays later HU's Brandon Gates scored from a yard out to open up a 35-3 lead which would be the margin heading to the fourth quarter.
HU tacked on a fourth quarter score when it capped an 11-play, 77 yard drive that began in the third quarter and finished with a Matt Fuller seven yard run to leave SE trailing 42-3 with 10:12 to play.
Southeastern would mount one more drive and despite a 16-yard pickup by Kieron Hardrick for a fourth down conversion, the drive would end on a punt downed at the one yard line and HU would run out the final 6:31 to finish the game.
